There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Evan Anderson, 27 picks ahead of schedule. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Jones pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kamren Kinchens at the 41st pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kingsley Suamataia in pick 57. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Audric Estime in pick No. 88 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy little value on Marist Liufau in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Javon Foster at No. 125 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Braelon Allen in the 135th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in No. 203, where De'Corian Clark graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, J.J. Weaver at Round 6, Pick 42 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Myles Jones slipping to the 219th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Evan Anderson in slot 246 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
