There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Rasheen Ali, 49 picks ahead of schedule. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Randolph Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 9 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Kalen King at No. 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 43rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Braelon Allen in slot 73 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Troy Fautanu at Round 3, Pick 18 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on James Williams at the 117th pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ben Sinnott. A need, and now a little less of one.
Devontez Walker at the 154th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, Rasheen Ali in Round 6, Pick 12 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on Keith Randolph Jr., who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Andrew Raym in pick 219, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
