· 2 steals
· 1 reaches
They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
The Bullard pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Tyler Guyton in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Graham Barton at the 47th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Brenden Rice at pick 68 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Javon Bullard at Round 4, Pick 4 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Khyree Jackson in pick No. 136 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Ben Sinnott in slot 146 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had cheaper options than Blake Watson at No. 229, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
