Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Cowboys spent slot 233 on Jaylon Hutchings, a name most had 121 spots down the list. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Guyton steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Circle this one: Tyler Guyton at the 56th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid up for Audric Estime at pick 87 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Marist Liufau come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 38. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Zion Logue at No. 216, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylon Hutchings well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Matt Lee at No. 244 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
