Miami Dolphins

Torrence should have been long gone. The Dolphins pounced, and earned a D.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Dolphins, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

Washington has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. However the rest shakes out, Torrence at that price is a win they earned.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Taliese Fuaga · OT · rank 16
In pick No. 22 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · Ja'Tavion Sanders · TE · rank 36
No edge and no loss on Ja'Tavion Sanders in No. 33; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
They read the board right and Jordan Morgan was the payoff at pick 47. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
Fair-plus on Edgerrin Cooper, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Bralen Trice · DE-EDGE · rank 63
Bralen Trice at the 64th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Marshawn Kneeland · DE-EDGE · rank 80
A reach for Marshawn Kneeland in the 72nd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Malik Washington · WR · rank 93
They paid a round early for Malik Washington in pick No. 76, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 83
Calen Bullock is a better player than pick 95 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 96
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Brenden Rice worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 95
They let Khyree Jackson come to them and pounced at slot 106. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 108
Mekhi Wingo in the 111th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 118
A straight-up fair deal on Spencer Rattler at the 120th pick, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Trevor Keegan · OG · rank 144
Trevor Keegan in Round 5, Pick 12 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 145
Tommy Eichenberg at No. 158 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 156
Isaiah Davis at the 161st pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.26 · Pick 162 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 163
No drama and no debate, Walter Rouse went about where he belonged in No. 162. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.9 · Pick 184 · Myles Cole · DE-EDGE · rank 197
They paid up for Myles Cole at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.23 · Pick 198 · Zion Tupuola-Fetui · DE-EDGE · rank 215
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at pick No. 198 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Ro Torrence · CB · rank 177
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Ro Torrence in the 203rd overall pick, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Julian Pearl · OT · rank 204
Julian Pearl at pick 229 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.20 · Pick 240 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
Garret Greenfield in slot 240 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.21 · Pick 241 · JD Bertrand · LB · rank 220
JD Bertrand at Round 7, Pick 21 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
