The Jha'Quan Jackson selection is the head-turner. The Patriots reached 91 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Turner pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 3 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
They robbed the room for Dallas Turner here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value said wait; Michael Pratt in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Caelen Carson in the 104th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jha'Quan Jackson at Round 4, Pick 36 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson is a better player than pick No. 182 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Austin Stogner was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
