You build a draft on nights like this. Kamal Hadden had no business being available in the Round 5 slot, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Every board in the league had Jacobs lower, and that gap is the story. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Brandon Dorlus went about where he belonged in the 64th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Matt Goncalves at pick No. 99 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Daijun Edwards at slot 133 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Kamal Hadden still on the board at the Round 5 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on LaDarius Henderson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Curtis Jacobs at the 172nd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had cheaper options than Omar Speights at pick 206, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jalen Green at No. 210 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No edge and no loss on Mark Perry in pick 250; it is a wash and a sensible one. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
