Somebody in pick 250 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Kenny Logan Jr., the No. 224 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Goncalves proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a difference-maker at receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Ruke Orhorhoro at slot 64 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
They jumped the gun on Matt Goncalves, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in No. 133, where Tyrice Knight graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Wright at pick No. 158 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Christian Jones at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Omar Speights in Round 6, Pick 44 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kenny Logan Jr. in the 250th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
