It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jaylen Wright in pick No. 43, a good 36 spots before the room expected him. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Xavien Howard gives the group a proven body among the projects.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 8 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Nubin. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jaylen Wright at the 43rd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Blake Corum at No. 55 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Sedrick Van Pran in slot 70 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
