The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Getting Hart where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Amarius Mims at pick No. 34 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 68th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Malachi Corley at pick 104 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Justin Eboigbe at slot 136 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Cam Hart at the 182nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A slide stopped in Round 7, Pick 9, with Jordan Magee worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
