The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Coleman pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 5 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Adonai Mitchell in slot 34; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kingsley Suamataia in pick 68 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Keon Coleman in pick No. 69 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Will Shipley at par in the 104th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
The board had cheaper options than Matt Goncalves at the 106th pick, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Theo Johnson went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in Round 6, Pick 7: Kamal Hadden for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Michael Barrett worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
