There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Beaux Limmer, 35 picks ahead of schedule. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Davis.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 32nd overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 26. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Beaux Limmer at pick No. 91 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Ben Sinnott at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
They liked Mason McCormick enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 132. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had Isaiah Davis higher than the 169th pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach for Caedan Wallace in Round 6, Pick 27; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
