Everything else got attention, and quarterback got none. That is a strange way for the Texans to leave a draft.
Reaching for Turner left real value on the table behind him. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in the 53rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had cheaper options than Kris Abrams-Draine at Round 4, Pick 10, and it noticed. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Cade Stover in pick 121 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Jaden Hicks at pick No. 125 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid up for Shemar Turner at No. 127 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Moose Muhammad III at the 146th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Darius Robinson at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Christian Jones at pick 186 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They did well to land Jason Henderson in No. 239, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cody Schrader in the Round 7 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
