Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Devin Neal got past him. The Chiefs do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 133.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Nick Emmanwori slid further than he should have, and the Round 1 slot is lovely value for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyleik Williams at the 64th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Jihaad Campbell at pick 68 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Trey Amos in slot 96 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to the 133rd overall pick, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Jonah Monheim still on the board at Round 7, Pick 41. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
