Whoever sat across the table from the Chiefs should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Kingsley Suamataia went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Ja'Lynn Polk at par in No. 71, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Michael Hall Jr. at Round 3, Pick 15 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Zak Zinter at the 105th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Theo Johnson in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Isaac Guerendo in pick No. 131, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Sam Hartman in pick 252; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
