The Titans looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Nadame Tucker at slot 142 regardless, 34 picks early.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Landing Fields that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a green-dot type in the middle. A real need, handled.
They jumped the gun on Keylan Rutledge, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Malachi Fields here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Connor Lew was still sitting there in No. 103, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nadame Tucker well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Charles Demmings at the 144th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Cyrus Allen slipping to pick 184 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dae'Quan Wright in Round 6, Pick 13. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Fa'alili Fa'amoe this early at pick No. 225. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
