Nobody else had Mikail Kamara anywhere near pick 114. The Eagles did, by 39 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Delp.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get protection for the quarterback at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
A.J. Haulcy at slot 59 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Mikail Kamara well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They let Jude Bowry come to them and pounced at the 137th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Oscar Delp at Round 5, Pick 13 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy bit of business in slot 197, where Jeff Caldwell graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had J'Mari Taylor higher than pick No. 201, and the running back fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in No. 239: TJ Hall for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in Round 7, Pick 25, with Robert Spears-Jennings worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
