Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kobe King got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at pick 199. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Crenshaw-Dickson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. More want than need.
The board had Benjamin Morrison higher than No. 56, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Charles Grant at Round 3, Pick 24 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 125 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Jaeden Roberts in pick 159, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Kobe King at the 199th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in slot 237 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a safety like Hunter Wohler reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
