This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaylin Simpson, the No. 135 name on the board, stolen at the 182nd pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Kamren Curl pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Circle this one: Olumuyiwa Fashanu at the 34th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had Amarius Mims higher than the Round 2 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, J.J. McCarthy went about where he belonged in the 40th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Keon Coleman at slot 68 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Blake Corum at Round 4, Pick 4 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 136 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value with a capital V on Luke McCaffrey in pick 181, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Jaylin Simpson all the way to No. 182, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They read the board right and Josh Proctor was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
