Denver Broncos

Nobody dealt better than the Broncos this weekend: B+.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Broncos came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The Randall reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Thomas pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher and quarterback still on the board. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Allen.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.25 · Pick 57 · CJ Allen · LB · rank 32
CJ Allen at the 57th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Eli Stowers · TE · rank 56
A reasonable price with a little left over, Eli Stowers in pick 60. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Kamari Ramsey · S · rank 78
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 103 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Skyler Bell · WR · rank 85
The board fumbled Skyler Bell all the way to No. 108, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Billy Schrauth · OG · rank 120
Billy Schrauth at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Oscar Delp · TE · rank 133
By-the-book stuff, Oscar Delp at Round 4, Pick 32 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.38 · Pick 138 · Chris McClellan · DT · rank 143
No drama and no debate, Chris McClellan went about where he belonged in slot 138. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.39 · Pick 139 · Jakobe Thomas · S · rank 140
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Jakobe Thomas in the 139th pick leaves edge rusher and quarterback for later.
R5.32 · Pick 172 · Travis Burke · OT · rank 174
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Travis Burke. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.30 · Pick 246 · TJ Hall · CB · rank 233
The board had TJ Hall higher than slot 246, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R7.40 · Pick 256 · Eli Heidenreich · WR · rank 252
Eli Heidenreich in Round 7, Pick 40 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.41 · Pick 257 · Adam Randall · RB · rank 283
They reached into another round for Adam Randall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
