The Broncos looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Jude Bowry at the 90th overall pick regardless, 40 picks early. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Stowers pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Breece Hall deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jacob Rodriguez in slot 63. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Eli Stowers at Round 3, Pick 11 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Sam Roush at the 87th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jude Bowry at pick 90 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Darrell Jackson Jr. at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A clean, defensible pick in the 108th overall pick with a little surplus value in Bud Clark. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bryce Lance at slot 111. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Beau Stephens at the 151st pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
A reach on Kaleb Elarms-Orr in No. 170; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Eli Heidenreich at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Adam Randall at pick 246 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
