The Packers went off the board in a big way for Christian Jones, 68 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
The McClellan value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
If Cooper DeJean and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get an island corner, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Xavier Legette in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They jumped the gun on Javon Bullard, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It adds depth where they could use a little.
No drama and no debate, Bucky Irving went about where he belonged in No. 91. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They talked themselves into Darius Robinson at pick 92, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Audric Estime at pick No. 104 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Mike Sainristil here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at Round 4, Pick 25, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Christian Jones. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jarrian Jones slid further than he should have, and pick No. 135 is lovely value for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Edefuan Ulofoshio. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Matthew Jones in slot 203 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Walter Rouse at the 217th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
They reached a country mile for Dwight McGlothern at the 219th overall pick, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for Tatum Bethune in the 246th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Steal is underselling it; Jase McClellan at pick No. 250 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
