Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Trente Jones at the Round 7 slot is 51 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
However the rest shakes out, Milton III at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Dalton Schultz gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get an island corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Xavier Worthy in the 37th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Patrick Paul at No. 59 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They jumped the gun on Blake Corum, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
A reach on McKinnley Jackson in pick No. 106; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for AJ Barner at pick 139, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Cornelius Johnson at Round 6, Pick 8 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Joe Milton III was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trente Jones. It fills a real need, too.
