When the story of this class is written, it opens with Braelon Allen at pick No. 105, a reach of 46 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
So much rides on Brock Bowers that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Ladd McConkey in Round 2, Pick 5; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Corum at No. 69, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached into another round for Jaden Hicks, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A big swing on Braelon Allen at pick 105, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steele Chambers at pick No. 226 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
