The Chargers' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Bertrand pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They are betting Allen proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick 32 they get a two-high chess piece. More want than need.
They paid sticker price for Ladd McConkey in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 55th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They took T'Vondre Sweat at par in the 57th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had cheaper options than Blake Corum at Round 2, Pick 32, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
A reach for Jaheim Bell in No. 127; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Braelon Allen in pick No. 138; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing JD Bertrand in pick 200. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
