The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Tyler Nubin, slot 100, roughly 71 picks past where he belonged.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Beebe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Marvin Harrison Jr. in the 2nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Chop Robinson at pick 36 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A conviction pick on Patrick Paul at the 40th overall pick that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid a round early for Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 3, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Tyler Nubin at pick No. 100 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Somehow Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was still sitting there in No. 102, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A minor itch, scratched.
The board fumbled Blake Corum all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at slot 141, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Christian Jones at Round 7, Pick 3 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
