The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jaydn Ott, No. 256, roughly 53 picks past where he belonged. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Morrison has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
They let JT Tuimoloau come to them and pounced at pick 41. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Barrett Carter at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy little value on Nick Emmanwori in the 86th overall pick, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Benjamin Morrison this early at Round 4, Pick 7. It adds depth where they could use a little.
J.Michael Sturdivant at pick No. 144 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Dont'e Thornton Jr. was still sitting there in slot 218, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a cornerback like Azareye'h Thomas reach No. 220 and blink. They did not. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Oscar Delp in No. 236 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Jaydn Ott at pick No. 256 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
