The board owed the Dolphins one, and it paid up: Trey Zuhn III, the No. 121 name on the board, sitting there at the 158th pick like a gift left on the doorstep.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Horn Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 30 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
A quiet steal in the 49th overall pick: Mykel Williams for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Garrett Nussmeier still on the board at Round 3, Pick 33. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A conviction pick on Tahj Brooks at the Round 3 slot that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Sebastian Castro at pick 99 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Howard Cross III is a better player than the 111th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Maxwell Hairston in No. 116, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Taking Trey Zuhn III in slot 158 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jimmy Horn Jr.. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
