The Jets torched the value chart for Dominic Zvada, taking him 59 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Wheatley value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on David Bailey at No. 2, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
CJ Allen in the 33rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Emmanuel Pregnon at slot 44 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Drew Allar, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dae'Quan Wright. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Fair-plus on Zavion Thomas, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dominic Zvada at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
