The Giants' one glaring miss is interior defensive lineman, a need they left exactly as they found it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Reaching for Wiley left real value on the table behind him. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Job largely done: safety settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took J.J. McCarthy at par in slot 39, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jonathon Brooks in pick 47. A need, and now a little less of one.
Javon Bullard in the 70th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Dominick Puni, who had no business lasting to pick No. 108. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaylin Simpson at the 140th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jared Wiley at Round 6, Pick 10 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
