Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys let Skattebo fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

When a board-topper like Cam Skattebo slides to the Round 6 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not.

Crenshaw-Dickson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 20
Jalon Walker in No. 44 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 66
The board had Deone Walker higher than pick No. 76, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Shemar Turner · DL · rank 133
Shemar Turner slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Jackson Slater · OG · rank 144
They barely believed it either: Jackson Slater still on the board at slot 168. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Dont'e Thornton Jr. · WR · rank 182
They jumped the gun on Dont'e Thornton Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson · OT · rank 265
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at the 173rd pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Tonka Hemingway · DT · rank 240
Value said wait; Tonka Hemingway in the 186th overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 99
You do not let a running back like Cam Skattebo reach the 209th pick and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Bryson Eason · DT · rank 292
They reached a country mile for Bryson Eason at No. 248, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
