You build a draft on nights like this. Tez Johnson had no business being available in pick No. 153, and the Cardinals did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They will need Conerly Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 16 they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
T.J. Sanders at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Demetrius Knight Jr. all the way to slot 78, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They went early on Shemar Turner in No. 114, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Tez Johnson in pick No. 153 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
