The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They banked enough surplus on Devonshire to cover a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. Reaching for Bell left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at Round 2, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in the 40th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Devontez Walker in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kingsley Suamataia at No. 78 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cedric Gray in pick 100 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Beau Brade at pick No. 139 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A reach on Jaheim Bell in slot 152; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
M.J. Devonshire in the 222nd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
