Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cowboys shredded theirs for Trey Moore. He came off 67 spots early, and the room will hear about it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Anderson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Cowboys indulged a want in Moore while a need in cornerback, quarterback and other spots stayed open. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Mason Graham · DT · rank 12
In pick 14 they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Dylan Sampson · RB · rank 58
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dylan Sampson. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Shemar Stewart · DL-EDGE · rank 111
Shemar Stewart in No. 76 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.11 · Pick 112 · Rylie Mills · DL · rank 114
Rylie Mills in the 112th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.27 · Pick 128 · Trey Moore · LB-EDGE · rank 195
A curious use of slot 128. Cornerback, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; an edge rusher in Trey Moore did not.
R5.17 · Pick 155 · Jamon Dumas-Johnson · LB · rank 149
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jamon Dumas-Johnson in pick No. 155. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.31 · Pick 169 · Garrett Dellinger · OG · rank 192
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Garrett Dellinger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.33 · Pick 171 · Nic Anderson · WR · rank 148
Nic Anderson at the 171st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.1 · Pick 176 · Logan Brown · OT · rank 157
Taking Logan Brown in Round 6, Pick 1 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.17 · Pick 192 · T.J. Sanders · DT · rank 224
A big swing on T.J. Sanders at pick No. 192, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.33 · Pick 208 · Damien Martinez · RB · rank 225
Damien Martinez at No. 208 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
