The Sam Hartman pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 89 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Cooper steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Nubin at slot 41, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A quiet steal in the 58th overall pick: Edgerrin Cooper for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They did well to land Trey Benson in the 91st pick, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Tyler Davis in Round 4, Pick 26, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Sam Hartman in No. 169 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
