The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Kurtis Rourke at the 251st overall pick regardless, 34 picks early.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Beebe steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Nubin at Round 2, Pick 9 is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid a round early for Brandon Dorlus in slot 58, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cooper Beebe at No. 88 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid up for Khyree Jackson at the 91st pick when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Braelon Allen in the 127th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaylen Wright at No. 168 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
AJ Barner at the 216th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Brevyn Spann-Ford in pick No. 243 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kurtis Rourke this early at slot 251. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
