The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Ben Sinnott at Round 3, Pick 28 regardless, 39 picks early.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that.
They paid sticker price for Tyler Nubin in pick 41, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
By-the-book stuff, Braden Fiske at slot 58 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Braelon Allen at No. 88 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ben Sinnott in the 91st overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Elijah Jones in pick No. 126, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kitan Oladapo at No. 169. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
