The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Kamal Hadden, the No. 178 name on the board, sitting there at No. 202 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The cost of the Robinson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value.
Edgerrin Cooper at slot 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kamari Lassiter in the 58th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ben Sinnott in Round 3, Pick 25 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A conviction pick on Theo Johnson at No. 91 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Brenden Rice in the Round 4 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, James Williams at pick No. 169 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Kamal Hadden at pick 202 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jacob Monk at the 219th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
They went early on Matt Lee in slot 245, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Keilan Robinson in No. 255 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
