Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Packers: C+.

Nobody had Jaylon Hutchings this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 97 spots to get him at pick 257. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Landing Wallace that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

So much rides on Rome Odunze that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 9
In the 25th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 41
A straight-up fair deal on Kamari Lassiter at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
They paid sticker price for Payton Wilson in the 58th pick, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 129
A big swing on Ben Sinnott at No. 88, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 106
Braelon Allen in slot 91 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Beaux Limmer · C · rank 126
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beaux Limmer. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jaheim Bell · TE · rank 164
Jaheim Bell at No. 169 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Drake Nugent · C · rank 210
They jumped the gun on Drake Nugent, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Dominique Hampton · S · rank 234
They liked Dominique Hampton enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Keilan Robinson · RB · rank 309
Keilan Robinson at the 245th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
Trevin Wallace at Round 7, Pick 35 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.39 · Pick 257 · Jaylon Hutchings · DL · rank 354
Jaylon Hutchings at the 257th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
