The Keilan Robinson selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 25 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. However the rest shakes out, McCaffrey at that price is a win they earned. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Nubin at the 41st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A tidy little value on Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 26, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Christian Mahogany at No. 88 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
A premium they did not need to pay, Ben Sinnott a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Braelon Allen in the Round 4 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Luke McCaffrey in No. 169 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They read the board right and Curtis Jacobs was the payoff at the 202nd pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jacob Monk at pick No. 245 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Keilan Robinson well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
