There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Mike Sainristil, 39 picks ahead of schedule. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Adding Mark Andrews by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Xavier Legette in the Round 1 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Mike Sainristil at the 41st pick, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They went early on Brandon Dorlus in the 57th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach on Khyree Jackson in pick No. 88; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Ray Davis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A premium they did not need to pay, James Williams a notch or two before his time. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
