They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Emery Jones Jr., 70 picks early at the 103rd overall pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Skattebo. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
They liked Josh Conerly Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 34. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy little value on Derrick Harmon in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Tyler Booker in pick 46, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Circle this one: Tyler Warren at the 67th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at slot 79 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Emery Jones Jr. in Round 4, Pick 2 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
R Mason Thomas at slot 105 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Carson Schwesinger at pick No. 138 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A slide stopped in the 219th overall pick, with Seth McLaughlin worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Elijah Arroyo all the way to the 220th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cam Skattebo in No. 238 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
