Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
Jackson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Every board in the league had Holker lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Tavion Sanders at slot 34 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They did well to land Devontez Walker in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Gabriel Murphy at the 102nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Dallin Holker in the 136th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Mason McCormick in pick 179 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jha'Quan Jackson at pick No. 231 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
