They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Eric Gentry, 38 picks early at pick 213.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.

It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.
