Miami Dolphins

A solid, sensible weekend for the Dolphins: B.

The Dolphins treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 7, Pick 36 on CJ Dippre a full 99 spots early. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The Gordon II steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Abdul Carter · DE-EDGE · rank 7
Nothing to complain about; Abdul Carter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · JT Tuimoloau · DE-EDGE · rank 56
A reach on JT Tuimoloau in Round 2, Pick 16; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Jake Majors · C · rank 91
They did well to land Jake Majors in the 98th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.19 · Pick 120 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 155
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaeden Roberts. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.32 · Pick 133 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 101
They will replay Lathan Ransom at No. 133 for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.12 · Pick 149 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 109
Somehow Cam Skattebo was still sitting there in the 149th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.17 · Pick 154 · Chris Paul Jr. · LB · rank 112
Chris Paul Jr. at slot 154 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.20 · Pick 195 · Nick Nash · WR · rank 240
Nick Nash at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.8 · Pick 224 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 158
Steal is underselling it; Ollie Gordon II at Round 7, Pick 8 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.15 · Pick 231 · Thor Griffith · DL · rank 269
A big swing on Thor Griffith at pick 231, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.36 · Pick 252 · CJ Dippre · TE · rank 351
CJ Dippre in the 252nd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
