The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named running back, a need the 49ers walked right past.
Klein has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Lee III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a green-dot type in the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
Good price on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick No. 58, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They went early on CJ Daniels in No. 127, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Dametrious Crownover at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A big swing on Marlin Klein at Round 4, Pick 38, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Will Lee III at slot 139 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
