Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins land in the muddy middle: C+.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Dolphins did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most.

That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They are betting Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 42
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him.
R2.29 · Pick 61 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 74
Sedrick Van Pran in pick 61 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 181
They paid a round early for Theo Johnson in the 166th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.32 · Pick 207 · Nelson Ceaser · DL-EDGE · rank 218
Nelson Ceaser at No. 207 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.30 · Pick 250 · Joshua Gray · OT · rank 238
Joshua Gray in the 250th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
