You can draft well and still miss the point. The Dolphins did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They are betting Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him.
Sedrick Van Pran in pick 61 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid a round early for Theo Johnson in the 166th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nelson Ceaser at No. 207 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Joshua Gray in the 250th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
