The Falcons spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Trice falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get their guy under center for the next decade. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Steal is underselling it; Bralen Trice at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Ricky Pearsall in the 74th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Mike Sainristil in the 88th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They took Nelson Ceaser at par in No. 109, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 135 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Malik Mustapha slid further than he should have, and slot 145 is lovely value for the safety. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylan Ford in pick 189. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, Aaron Frost at No. 244 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
