Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Dwight McGlothern, the No. 175 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 210. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Trotter Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at slot 50 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Javon Bullard in Round 2, Pick 21 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay Calen Bullock at pick No. 97 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jarrian Jones in No. 160 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Mason McCormick was the payoff at the 170th pick. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy little value on Luke McCaffrey in the 171st overall pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Dwight McGlothern all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
