Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Commanders never addressed wide receiver, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Wallace falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The Puni reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Jordan Morgan at par in the 36th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cooper Beebe in pick No. 40 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid up for Dominick Puni at No. 78 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Zak Zinter in pick 100; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Isaiah Adams at slot 139 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Walter Rouse at the 152nd pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Caedan Wallace slid further than he should have, and No. 222 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
